President of
Pakistan The president
of Pakistan, General Pervaiz Musharraf, urged the importance
of Gwadar Port for the economic future of Pakistan. He said
that the government of Pakistan is happy to complete
the deep sea port, well in time, as well as other connected
projects to make Gwadar Port the center of international
transit trade. These projects include Makran Coastal
Highway, Gwadar Rato Dero Motorway, Gwadar Quetta Highway,
Gwadar Quetta Zahidan Railway Track, 132KV Electricity Line,
International Airport, and Ankra & Meerani Dam. Every single
project costs billions of rupees to accomplish, and
appropriate funds have been arranged.
Prime Minister of
Pakistan The prime
minister of Pakistan, Mr. Shaukat Aziz, says that the
government of Pakistan has released funds for constructing a railway line
connecting Chaman to Spin Boldak, a frontier town of
Afghanistan. He added that Gwadar
port will be inaugurated properly, and talks with DP World
are in good progress. Kuwaiti and Saudi Firms are bidding to
build a $2 Billion Oil Refinery @ Gwadar.

Development Authority District General, Ahmed Baksh Lari,
stated that Gwadar's worldwide standards have attracted many
entrepreneurs and investors towards itself. Many projects in
Gwadar are being completed at a fast pace. In fact, Gwadar
is the first city in history were a city, port, 900 km
railway line, 600 km motorway, international airport,
desalination plant, and economic free zone are being
developed simultaneously. Gwadar city shall be a unique and

In the budget of documents of 2004-2005 Government of
Pakistan has given the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) status to
Gwadar.

launching Industrial Plots in Economic Free Zone in Industrial
Area of Master Plan.

exploration. Government has awarded several licenses for
onshore/offshore oil and gas exploration. Pakistan Petroleum
Ltd. has setup their office in Gwadar city for their offshore
exploration.
